Consignment can be your secret weapon to help save money yet still dress your kids in nothing but the best labels. And with prices ranging from 50% to 75% off new, your clothing dollars go further when shopping consignent. You will find bargains everyday so no need to follow the sales elsewhere. We can offer more choices of colors, styles, designers and sizes than any mall can offer.
I have heard that you can be picky about what you accept. Are you?
Yes, we’re pretty selective. As a consignor, your items will look and sell better surrounded by other high quality pieces. If in doubt, bring your items in for us to take a look at.
How much will you price my things?
A general rule of thumb is 1/3 to 1/2 of the original retail price, depending on condition and desirability. For example new clothing with tags (NWT) generally sells for approx 1/2 retail. We advise anyone consigning with us for the first time to stop in the store and compare your things to similar items on our racks. Rhubarb & Custard set the pricing on all consigned merchandise. If you have an unusual or very expensive item, please discuss it with us.
Will you sell my items online?
If we feel there is a chance that you might get a better price online we will certainly explore that option. It's always a lot of fun especially when items are sold overseas.
Do you buy outright?
We do not buy outright at this time, but you will make more money if you consign your items. Our split is 40/60 on consignments and 50/50 on select equipment.
Just what is Drop & Dash?
As an established consignor, you have the option of making an appointment or using Drop & Dash. New Consignors must make an appointment. Currently, as of Oct. 3, 2011, we are about two weeks out for appointments to consign fall and winter items, but call first as we might be able to squeeze you in if you have something we are in need of. We will hold any items that won't be consigned for up to seven days to allow you time to pick them up, or we can simply donate them to charity.
Can I get my things back if they don’t sell?
Of course! You must contact us before your expiration date and request that we note on our calendar that you want to pick up your unsold items. We will gather them at your request and hold them for one week.
If I don’t pick up, what happens to my things?
On the day after your expiration date, they become the property of Rhubarb & Custard and we will donate them to a local children's charity of our choice.
How do you keep track of my things?
We use software especially designed for consignment shops. Every consignor has their own account. All your items are entered in the PC and tags are printed with numbers identifying the consignor and item.
How am I compensated?
We distribute your funds on the 20th of each month for all amounts over $25. You have the option to receive a check or store credit. Any amounts under $25 will roll over to the following month.
Will I pay any fees as a consignor?
No, we do not charge any fees to consignors.
